The place of the forge vary, smelter have it on the middle top while metalsmith have it on the middle right, for example. WebDwarf Fortress is a game with so much information that you can draw the most amazing connections and patterns if you just start looking for them. That's what keeps me getting back to Dwarf Fortress. That's what prevents my fortresses from becoming just another fortress with a bunch of dwarves.
