Its presentation is variable, often including abnormalities of the bony pelvis, pelvic floor, and genitalia. WebBladder exstrophy occurs when the lower abdominal wall fails to develop because of a lack of mesenchymal ingrowth. It occurs in 1 in 10,000-40,000 births and is more common in males than females [ 1 ]. Because the bladder is variably open to the outside environment, all cases are symptomatic.
